Side projects

  • peakpurity.bg I am co-founder, webmaster and co-designer for this online shop in Shopify. Contributed to the brand, product design, and the ads as well. Currently, it is serving hundreds of customers per month.
  • catsndogsmatter.com I am webmaster and designer for this charity website in Wordpress. I developed it for a non-profit organization that helps rescue stray cats and dogs. They hold bi-monthly spay/neuter events and needed a better form management system than Google Forms.

My work history

  • Lead Developer

    Hoody 2021 - Present

Hoody is a comprehensive privacy suite developed by DevOps Solutions. It offers bulletproof privacy via its wide range of products and tools: VPN, browser extension, desktop app, free proxies, and private AI.

    Office location

Started in Cebu City, Philippines, then moved to Sofia, Bulgaria, and then went fully remote.

    Notable tasks and projects

    • I was part of the founding team. Our goal was to create a browsing environment that fully sandboxes all user network requests. I benchmarked browser-native APIs including Service Workers and Shadow DOM. I also developed ways to commandeer the browser via Puppeteer, Playwright, and browser command-line flags.
    • I built the desktop app's installer and asset delivery system using Tauri and MithrilJS wrapped in a Node.js PKG executable. The delivery system is a Node.js HTTPs server serving fixed-size binary chunks listed by a manifest designed for reproducibility and security, capable of serving 10k+ downloads per day.
    • I led a team of 2 that developed the support system, processing 100s of tickets every month. The client side is in vanilla JS while the admin dashboard is in React. The backend is in plain Node.js proxified in AdonisJS for admins for added anonymity for users. It has measures like double-hashing and at-rest data encryption to ensure users cannot be tracked.
    • I led the desktop app frontend's development with 5 developers. Initially the app frontend was in Tauri and MithrilJS, but we switched to a web app coded in SvelteKit, TanStack and TailwindCSS that was opened in a browser commandeered by a background process. This cut down development costs by 80%.
    • I co-developed the CI/CD pipeline with my CTO using bash scripts and a system of relay and edge servers. I also maintained a staging clone using Cloudflared and bash scripts. This simplified deployment from 1 hour down to a few minutes.
    • I contributed to the website, and briefly took over the website's team of 4 developers. The website heavily uses Webpack, handwritten CSS, and Handlebars.
    • I led a team of 2 developers that developed the analytics module for the website and its counterpart dashboard, written in vanilla JS and AdonisJS. Through this, we are able to view 100k+ visits per month and make data-driven decisions.
    • I built the affiliate management system for Hoody. I had to create both affiliate-facing and admin dashboards using Next.js, with an API built with AdonisJS. Currently serving 200+ affiliates.

  • Senior Full Stack Developer

    Panteum 2019 - 2021

Panteum was a crypto project that aimed to create a full Web3 ecosystem governed by an enhanced Proof-of-Stake mechanism. The ecosystem included a governance token, an interplantery file system (IPFS), and a decentralized app library.

    Office location

    Cebu City, Philippines

    Notable tasks and projects

    • I was tasked to develop a file distribution system that operated similar to torrenting. It included server nodes in Node.js that hosted files, a web widget that allowed direct streaming from servers, and a client app in Electron for file downloading.
    • I took over the IPFS's development. The system was written in Node.js and Rust. One of my last tasks was to integrate the IPFS with the app library.
    • I led a team of 2 that developed the app library, written in a custom JS framework I developed. This project used browser-native APIs like Service Workers, CSPs, and web streams.
  • Associate Software Developer

    Alliance Software 2017 - 2019

Alliance Software is one of the largest software development and business solutions companies in the Philippines. Their clients range from companies in Japan, Australia and the United States to conglomerates in the Philippines.

    Office location

    Cebu City, Philippines

    Notable tasks and projects

    • I was part of a team that maintained an internal store network development web app in Drupal for Jollibee Foods Corporation, a local fast-food conglomerate. It tracked 1000s of stores and had dozens of concurrent users. I was able to lessen the app loading time from 5 minutes to a few seconds.
    • I helped develop an internal franchisee management system written in VueJS and Slim for Jollibee Foods Corporation.
